I knew nothing about mortgage insurance. I just thought it was something that was forced on by the mortgage company or maybe even the government and so I've never given it any thought up until recently. And then the unthinkable happened on April the 7th we had a terrible thunderstorm and my house got hit by lightening. And the lightening blew a hole in my dining room wall and did some major damage to the house, did about $50,000 worth of damage to the house. The contractor that I had chosen to do the work didn't meet the obligation of being finished by July the 1st, as a matter of fact they didn't finish until October the 25th. And so by that time I had used all of my spare funds and could no longer afford to even be in the house.

I was going to have to find a buyer very quickly or it was going to go into foreclosure. I was going to lose the house and all the equity and…there was nothing really that I could do about that. And so I thought I'd just hang until they threw me out of here.

So – I got a call in December from Genworth and…he asked me just to give him a call back. And he had a real nice kind voice, sounded like he was at least cared. So I called back and I got a representative by the name of Dawn Aschenbrenner…And when I finished with the conversation with Dawn I mean it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders because I felt like I'm going to be helped here.

I thought I was up against a wall and I was – had no control over what was going on, that I was already boxed in and this house was going to foreclosure and there was nothing I could do with it. I got to thank the Lord I had the mortgage insurance. If it hadn't been for Genworth, I would have a real bad credit record right now, I wouldn’t have my equity in my pocket and I would have probably been real sick because of the stress, because it was really getting to me. So that was a – it was a miracle, to me it was – unbelievable.

I ended up getting my equity back, not going in foreclosure…you know I think a lot of people ought to pay attention to or at least if they get again, which I'm sure I will – that's the first thing I'll make sure I have because now I understand what can do for you, it saved me big time.
